This policy explains what data Astar collects, why, who we share it with, how long we keep it, and the rights you have over it. Astar is operated by mottods. Contact: support@mottods.com.

| Account identifier (User ID) | A unique account ID is generated when you sign up. It links your notes, star names, likes, and favorites to your account. It is used only to operate the Service - never for advertising or cross-app tracking. |
| Password (email sign-up) | Stored only as a salted hash by our authentication provider; we never see your plaintext password. |
| Notes you write (≤280 chars) | Stored and displayed so you - and, for public notes, other users - can read them on stars. |
| Star names & dedications | Only when you claim a star name. Checked automatically for profanity and against a curated trademark list at claim time. |
| Private star nicknames | A private nickname you assign to a star is visible only to you and is never shown to other users. Free accounts may hold 1 at a time; Astar Premium subscribers can hold unlimited. |
| Push notifications (optional) | An Expo push token, generated only if you enable notifications, is used to notify you when another user likes or favorites your note. Opt out anytime in Settings. Star Naming outcomes are not sent as a push - moderation happens instantly in-app the moment you submit a name. |
| Approximate location (IP-based) | At launch we look up a coarse location (~25-50 km) from your IP address via ipinfo.io to aim the sky at your local horizon. Used in memory only - never stored on our servers. |
| Location & motion sensors | If you grant location permission, we take a balanced-accuracy, one-shot location fix (not full GPS precision) plus your device's compass heading, and read accelerometer/gyroscope/magnetometer values, all used entirely on your device to align the live 3D sky with where your phone points. These are never transmitted off your device or stored. |
| Crash & diagnostic data | We use Sentry to capture crashes and errors so we can fix them. Events are scrubbed of personal content before sending, your IP is not stored, and no note text, name, or email is included. |
| Purchases & entitlements | If you subscribe to Astar Premium, purchase a Star Naming package, or purchase a note duration-extension, the purchase event, product identifier, and resulting entitlement or credit record (linked to your account ID) are synced to us via RevenueCat to grant the corresponding feature or extend the corresponding note. We never receive or store your payment-card details - Apple/Google process all billing directly. |
We do not collect: birth data, contacts, photos, microphone, advertising identifiers (IDFA / GAID), browsing history, product-analytics tracking, or payment-card data. We do not store any location history. We do not build advertising profiles.
Under the GDPR our legal bases are performance of our contract with you (account, notes), our legitimate interest (stability, safety), and your consent (location permission). Under the KVKK (Türkiye), the equivalent bases apply.
We do not sell your data and we do not share it for advertising. We use the following service providers, each acting on our behalf under a data-processing agreement:

No transactional-email vendor is used - the app does not email you. Star Naming outcomes are decided instantly in-app when you submit a name, and social notifications (someone liked or favorited your note) are delivered by push only.

Astar is not directed to children under 13 (or a higher age where local law requires). We do not knowingly collect data from children below that age; if we learn we have, we delete the account.
The app does not use cookies or third-party advertising trackers, does not use IDFA / GAID, and does not prompt App Tracking Transparency - we declare "Data Not Used to Track You" on Apple.
Your account and content are hosted in the EU (Frankfurt). Some providers may process data in other regions under Standard Contractual Clauses or equivalent safeguards.
We will post material changes here and, where appropriate, in the app before they take effect. Continued use after the effective date constitutes acceptance.
